Private Equity Software

LP Gateway was created by ScreenMatter, an interactive agency with several clients in the private equity industry. The software was initially designed for a private equity firm that wanted to provide limited partners with dynamically rendered statements that could be viewed as PDF documents or downloaded to Excel. Many versions later, with many more clients, the product now offers more features and benefits, designed exclusively for private equity firms.

Definition: gateway (n.) - Something that serves as an entrance or a means of access.

The software is best classified as an online portal, or gateway. It primary purpose is to give controlled access to online information and optimize the experience of its users. The software was initially designed to only present statement data (for capital calls, distributions and capital account statements). This allows private equity firms to use any type of accounting software that is completely separate from the online portal. Statement data is easily loaded into the system’s database using an Excel template. The database allows statements to be rendered dynamically for investors in a variety of formats including PDF and Excel. All other information, such as annual reports, are easily managed (added / edited / deleted) within the web application.

Special Features

LP Gateway can also manage all investor contacts / users. Using this information, email messages may be sent from the system to all users, or filtered groups (based on their associated fund, communication preferences, etc.). Messages may be general announcements or associated with a specific capital call, distribution or capital account statement. Each message includes a customized link to the recipient’s statement. This feature has allowed firms using LP Gateway to replace printed statements with an online version.

Content Management for Public Website

An optional feature included with LP Gateway is a content management system for a firm’s public website. This allows most text and images on its website to be updated using the online tool.
